On a personal note, I've been gone for too long. On January 8th we welcomed a son, our third child.
It's been a time of great joy for my family, and a time of great professional challenge for me personally. A 2 week visit by my parents, a 4 week visit by my in-laws, and 2 weeks of working from home later, I've managed to keep my clients happy, add some new clients, and hire and train 2 new recruiters.
When my son grows up, you can be sure that he will know that he decided to join the world 8 days too late for a $1300 tax break, and about a month too soon to fully develop my sales pipeline to kick off the year. Some people are just not considerate. :)
Now I'm turning my attention back to the blog. And no the title is not about my Newborn baby.
A candidate just called me. He has the final round of interviews on Monday. He thought it was odd that HR told him they would not be covering his travel.
Of course by HR, I mean last week's hire for the most junior coordinator role in HR. Someone who should've been coached to ask if she's not sure.
So, Mr. Candidate, yes your travel will be taken care of, and to anyone else... If it smells funny, it probably is, so please ask me.
